ECONOMIC GROWTH AND EMPLOYMENT IN ROMANIA: PERFORMANCE AND TRENDS IN THE CONTEXT OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION

Abstract


In the international context of rapid economic growth in much of the developing world and sustained economic growth in the US, at the European level, the renewed Lisabon strategy has as the two main objectives: employment and growth. The Strategy implies raising growth performance of the EU on a sustainable basis, improved quality and productivity at work and a social and territorial cohesion, with a employment rate of 70 per cent in 2010. Romania, where employment rate was 57,7 per cent in 2004, must to implement structural reforms in order to raise the living standards and the quality of life of its citizens.
