Les Implications Géopolitiques de la Réunification Européenne

N.N. Bobica

Abstract

The creation of European Union has changed the relationship of the existing force all over the world, causing a redistribution of the power and influence. During the Cold War, the European Community will be the main ally of the United States of America in its confrontation with the USSR. After the fall of the Berlin Wall and of the Soviet Union, the European Union ceased to be the disciplined follower of the U.S. in the international politics, assuming its own role in this direction. It will reasonably claim to have a major role in determining the European policy and to follow its own path in solving vital issues of the contemporary world. It will offer many times, the optimal alternative to solutions forwarded by the main representatives of the international political life; when they will undoubtedly follow their own particular interests, it will be an important counterweight to the hegemonic tendencies of the United States. It currently works as a balance factor in confronting various geopolitical tendencies and in imposing law and morality principles in the international political life.
