ÎNTRE IDENTITATEA NAŢIONALĂ ŞI IDENTITATEA EUROPEANĂ
Abstract
The context of european integration resulted in numerous questions and controverses
regarding maintaining the national identity of each nation, once i twill obtain the membership of the European
Union.
Many states saw this process as giving up the specificity of a certain nation, including the cultural
tradition and the distinctive features of the national legislation, in favour of a new identity, based of different
values. Based on the ambivalence of the national and European identity, the elements which define the unity are
those who persist, determined by an „obvious ethno-cultural diversity”. In Europe, the cultural unity was
considered to be a solution, the common traditions representing the ones that give personality to the European
identity.
