DEZVOLTAREA METROPOLITANĂ ÎN ROMÂNIA
Abstract
The article „ The Metropolitan Development in Romania” analyses aspects about metropolitan areas in
Romania.
A metropolitan area usually combines an agglomeration (the contiguous built-up area) with peripheral
zones not themselves necessarily urban in character, but closely bound to the center by employment or
commerce; these zones are also sometimes known as a commuter belt, and may extend well beyond the urban
periphery depending on the definition used. It is mainly the area that is not part of the city but is connected to
the city. For example, Pasadena, California would be added to Los Angeles, California's metro area. While it
isn't the same city, it is connected.
This year The Ministry of Transport, Construction and Tourism has in work a new strategy
regarding the development of the national network of metropolitans areas through the identification of some
connection methods to the european network. In this order, Oradea became member of a metropolitan areas
network who implements very important projects.
The development and the creation of the metropolitans areas in Romania are at the local
authorities’s charge, existing the posibility for access the european founds and even the state founds.
In this intervention I limit to disscussing several ideas about the main metropolitans areas in
Romania like: Bucharest, Iasi, Oradea, Timisoara and Constanta.
